An initiative of Disability Services Queensland and the Brain Injury Association of Queensland Inc.
Under the Commonwealth-State/Territory Disability Agreement (Bilateral Agreement) 2002-2007, the Commonwealth and Queensland Governments committed to work together to explore alternative support options for younger people (under 65 years of age) inappropriately placed in aged care facilities, and the capacity for younger people who have been inappropriately placed to move to more appropriate accommodation.

DSQ will focus on achieving three primary outcomes over the course of the next 5 years:
Following initial eligibility screening and timing for assessment by DSQ, people who are eligible for this initiative will be referred to the assessment service for an independent assessment. To be considered for assistance under the YPIRAC initiative, a person must:
Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee assistance under this initiative. DSQ has provided funding to the Brain Injury Association of Queensland to undertake assessments of the disability and health care needs of people eligible for the YPIRAC initiative.
Persons will need to register their interest with DSQ to be considered under this initiative. Consent will need to be provided to access information about the person from the Aged Care Assessment Team, or the service provider that referred the person.
