Greater Brisbane Support Service (GBSS) PDF Print E-mail

The Brain Injury Association of Queensland's Support Service (formerly known as ABICIS) provides lifestyle support to people with acquired brain injury and other complex needs living in the greater Brisbane and North Coast area. The service supports people to live independently in the community through developing and maintaining independent living skills.

What do we do?

The services we provide are varied but include support with:

  • Home Management – paying bills, budgeting, meal preparation, shopping, household duties etc
  • Personal Care – overnight support, mobility transfers, showering, toileting, medication etc
  • Community Access – attending appointments, developing social networks, leisure activities, vocational activities etc

Eligibility criteria:

  • Have an acquired brain injury (ABI) or complex needs that require the expertise of the Association
  • Live in the greater Brisbane area
  • Have a means of paying for support (e.g. Government funding or compensable funding)

You can download the GBSS Referral Form here and send it back to us (please note that this service's former name, ABICIS, will still appear on the referral form due to service agreements). One of these forms will need to be completed to receive Support Services from the Brain Injury Association of Queensland.
