Guidelines for the Continence Aids Assistance Scheme
(CASS)
The Australian Government
has simplified the application process for CASS – a program that helps people
with the cost of pads and other personal continence products. The scheme
provides an annual subsidy for continence products to people who have permanent
and severe incontinence and are aged five years and whose incontinence is
caused by an eligible neurological condition.
Introducing ‘Head Bumpa’
products for head injury prevention in babies/toddlers and also children and
adults with special needs. Products have been developed for children and adults
who may need extra head protection for various reasons eg, cerebral palsy, dementia,
mobility issues, autism, acquired brain injuries and other intellectual
disabilities. Products are comfortable to wear and not cumbersome like the
helmet alternatives.

The team have developed
world first animal models that show how nerve cells react when attacked by the
immune system and how they respond to potential treatments. One model uses the
mouse optic nerve, which is often affected by MS attacks, leading to impaired
vision. Researchers can now model this optic nerve damage and, by using
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can track the course of the disease and any
benefits potential therapies may have.
