Campaign for a National Disability Insurance Scheme
There is a campaign for a new approach to ensuring all people who have a disability have support and services. Some brief information extracted from their web site.
“ALL Australians need a no-fault insurance scheme for everyone who has, or acquires a significant disability. A National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) would be a landmark social and economic reform, transforming the lives of Australians with disabilities and their families.” “The National Disability Strategy Consultation Report has identified ‘the adequate financing of disability support’ as one of its four strategic priorities.”

"From a Home to their homes" DVD and Information Booklet
The Summer Foundation has developed a DVD and information booklet, outlining a variety of accommodation and support models that documents the experience of six people. The booklet provides information to consumers and families about various community housing models for younger people with differing degrees of care needs. BRISBANE: Mental Health Expo
The Sandgate & Bracken Ridge Action Group Inc. (SANDBAG), and Sandgate Community Connect are holding a Mental Health Expo. Since 2006 SANDBAG has hosted an event in recognition of Mental Health week, an initiative of the Mental Health Association www.mentalhealth.org.au , and participated in related activities. The event is based on the mental health week theme of ‘Be Active, Get Connected, Stay Involved’
